My first Fourth Doctor story!

Due to being Old But Not Quite That Old, my memories of Tom Baker on television are sparse. The first Doctor Who story I watched was The Keeper of Traken, by which point he was a hop and a skip and a tumble away from a moment he had apparently prepared for. Then came Peter Davison and the announcement of my obsession was stuck to the door of Cranleigh Halt train station with Terileptil spit.

That said, I read all the Target novels and -- most importantly as not even Terrance Dicks can convey a Tom Baker performance -- collected all of the VHS tapes of old stories when they slowly but surely trickled out from the late eighties onwards.

Tom Baker is not entirely human, let's accept that. He is a twinkling force of intelligence, a mind we are blessed to have, a way of thinking and acting that is as alien to the average as the Doctor himself. I have written a number of stories for Tom. I've also acted with him which is utterly, utterly absurd and impossible to believe for the child me -- who is very much alive and present within the adult me, because they have to be for this job and, besides, what's the point in growing up if you can't be childish sometimes?

This story is available as either two seperate releases (two episodes per disc, a four part story in all) or as part of a box set along with two other two part stories.

KILL THE DOCTOR!

The TARDIS crew arrive on the planet Drummond, an Earth colony in the far future where everybody uses handheld computers from morning to night. Rania Chuma is the mastermind behind Rene.net, the datastream network that tells you everything you need to know. Anyone who’s anyone uses Rene.net.

But ever since Rania was young she’s heard a voice in her head. That voice is the key to Rene.net’s success. And it’s a voice the Doctor might find familiar.

Whilst Leela chases a thief, the Doctor looks into the planet’s datastream and something evil looks back. A subliminal command flashes through Rene.net to Drummond’s entire population: ‘Kill the Doctor’. When the entire planet is against you, where can you possibly hide?
